DOWNEAST SCENIC RAILROAD - ELLSWORTH

The whole family will enjoy riding on the Downeast Scenic Railroad, which takes you 12 miles across Hancock, Ellsworth Falls, and across the Union River Bridge. An hour and 45 minutes of relaxing views, AND you can bring your dog (as long as they are restrained).

ACADIA NATIONAL PARK - MOUNT DESERT ISLAND

It goes without saying that Acadia National Park has the most accessible fall foliage views. From walking through Bar Harbor with a warm apple cider in hand, to taking a drive through the park itself, you will be sure to find the views and vibes you are seeking.

BLUE HILL - BLUE HILL

Not technically in Downeast, but VERY close, is Blue Hill. A gorgeous little seaside village, filled with off the beaten path restaurants, shops, and scenic views. About 45 minutes from Bar Harbor, Blue Hill is a quiet place to sit back and enjoy your surroundings.

“MILLION DOLLAR VIEW” RTE 1 DANFORTH TO LONGFELLOW LAKE

Rather than a specific location, the byway through Danforth to Longfellow Lake, brags a “million-dollar view” this stretch of U. S. Route 1 gives travelers breathtaking views of the Chiputneticook chain of lakes including East Grand, Brackett and Deering. Travelers may also see a variety of wildlife such as bears, deer, loons, eagles, and moose.
